What to do if you are double-insured.

Updated over a year ago

If you already have a supplementary insurance (not the mandatory health insurance) with your mutual health organization (e.g. supplementary hospitalization or dental insurance) you may be double insured. 😬

🚨 You have the option to keep this supplementary insurance and thus have two coverages but it is NOT possible to be reimbursed for the same costs by more than one insurer.

You are therefore required to inform the second insurer of the first insurer's intervention in the event of double insurance. However, you can choose who you contact first. 😊

👉 To make sure you don't overpay, we recommend that you also compare the different options.

To clarify:

  1. In most cases, the mutual insurance company intervenes first.

  2. Afterward, supplementary insurer no. 1 intervenes in the part not covered by the mutual health insurance organization.

  3. Only then does the supplementary insurer no. 2 intervene in the part not covered by either the mutual health insurance fund or supplementary insurer 1.

You can always contact us for more information & our team will be happy to help you make the best decision for your situation.
